If you are filing a workers’ compensation claim, do you need an attorney?
You don’t have to have an attorney, you have a right to represent yourself in the claim. However, remember that there are three parties to every claim:
- You, the injured worker; \
- Your employer – whether it’s a state fund or self-insured employer;
- The State of Ohio – the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Comission of Ohio.
You can be assured that most employers have legal representation, as well as the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and
the Industrial Comission of Ohio. So if you choose to file and process your claim without a legal representative, you might be the only party in the claim that doesn’t have legal representation.
